Manassas--continued

Not sure why, but the last post was messing up when I tried to add to it--so will continue with a new post.

After the Visitor's Center, we walked around outside--looked at the statue of Stonewall Jackson, several cannons, the Henry house where Judith Henry (the only civilian casualty of the first battle) lived and died (a reproduction since the original house was damaged during the first battle and destroyed during the second), and a monument placed in 1865 by survivors of the battles.

Then we drove down to the creek, Bull Run, and saw the stone bridge.

Manassas (Bull Run) Battlefield

Monday morning, we got up and headed to the battlefield at Manassas (Bull Run). First stop was the Visitor's Center where we watched a movie about the battles and toured the small museum and gift shop.

Washington DC Trip

We left last Sunday for Washington DC. As we traveled through Virginia, the landscape changed from grassy to snowy.
We stopped in Manassas, VA for the night with plans to visit the battlefield in the morning.

A New Year, A New Beginning

I'm starting fresh--too much to catch up with last year's blog.  Will try to do better this year.
